Cardiff Pride Park Rained off
Cooper's Field rained off... but other events to go ahead

Cardiff Pride Park Rained off

Friday, 5 September 2008

In a twist of fate, the recently rescued Cardiff Pride weekend has suffered a major blow as the driving rain makes Cooper's Field unsafe for the festival.

A statement issued by the organisers of Cardiff Pride 2008 today brings us the unfortunate news that Saturday's park event has been rained off - but street parties and other events will be taking place as planned:

"It is with deep regret that after consultation with Cardiff Council, Coopers Field is too waterlogged and therefore Cardiff Pride 2008 will not be taking place on Saturday 6th September.

We will be contacting all suppliers, acts and volunteers as soon as possible to confirm arrangements.

The Cardiff Pride committee has worked hard to ensure the event can go ahead and this decision has not been taken lightly.

Other venues are reorganising their existing plans to accommodate this. Please check back later today for details of other events happening in Cardiff this weekend."

The line-up at the park was to have included Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills, C4 The Games winner Philip Olivier, Andy Scott Lee, Sonia and other headline acts. Some of the park acts from both the main stage and the cabaret stage will be performing at the Pulse street party, but a separate ticket is required. Contact Ticketline directly for details of refunds on park tickets.

An additional charge just because it rained was a complete rip-off...

Despite the apocalyptic monsoon that hit Cardiff on Friday 5th September, we had a 'fablas' weekend! Thanks to our luvly friends and the organizers of the hilarious Pulse Street Party. Roll on 2009!
