By George it's the boy
Thursday, 7 August 2008
Superclub DJ Boy George has joined the line-up for Manchester Pride's 18th Birthday. The ex-Culture Club frontman will play a DJ set on the opening night of the Big Weekend (Friday 22nd August). The karma will be great (groan!) as George ditches the cup of tea from some sweet basslines and winning moves.
Other acts performing on the opening night include Sankey’s resident DJ Kate Lawler and house music legend Angie Brown.
Manchester Pride will also see performances from Sophie Ellis Bextor, Alphabeat, Heather Small, Natasha Hamilton, 4 Poofs & a Piano, K-Klass, Client and Rowetta.
Andrew Stokes, chairman of Manchester Pride, said: “We’re really excited to have such an iconic artist performing at our 18th birthday bash. This is one of our strongest line-ups yet and I’m pleased to say there’s another great act to announce before the festival opens. All will be revealed very soon.”
The Big Weekend takes place from Friday 22nd until Monday 25th August.
Tickets £17.50.
