Tying the knot Manchester style

Mark eighteen years with Manchester Pride

Tying the knot Manchester style

Wednesday, 21 May 2008

The countdown continues but where are the couples? As Manchester Pride’s 18th Birthday comes closer the festival is looking for a little matrimonial happiness. Turning 18 and tying the knot are without doubt two of the biggest landmarks in anyone’s life and as Manchester Pride’s 18th birthday in August draws close, the organisers have announced plans to host two group civil ceremonies during the festival.

The ceremonies will take place on the eve of Manchester Pride’s Big Weekend, Thursday 21st August, at the Marriott Victoria & Albert and the Renaissance Hotel. Each individual services will be conducted by Manchester Registrar Office followed by a group blessing by a local reverend. Jackie Crozier, festival manager of Manchester Pride, said: “The group civil ceremony will be a highlight of the festival and a fantastic start to the ‘Big Weekend’, not to mention a very memorable day for the ten couples actually taking part.”

Manchester Pride will host an evening celebration for the couples, their family and friends with each of the couples having the opportunity to invite a select number of guests who will be seated together for the evening celebrations. So if Pride is where your heart is and you want to link that to the one you love, contact Manchester Pride now. And book that frock.

Couples interested in taking part in the ceremony should contact Elissa Baker, special events manager at the Marriott Victoria & Albert Hotel on 0161 838 4127.
